Hospice Palliative Care - Dignity & Comfort During Final Days

When the focus of care is comfort and no longer cure, or when the prognosis is a matter of months and not years, hospice may become involved in the client's plan of care.Hospice Palliative Care can enhance the quality of life through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the clients and their families.

Hospice Palliative Care will provide an interdisciplinary team: physician, nurse, social worker, spiritual counselor, bereavement counselor, therapists, and others to ensure the client spends their final days with dignity and comfort.

While Home Instead Senior Care itself is not a hospice organization, our CAREGivers can supplement the care provided by your hospice or palliative care team by providing emotional support, companionship, housekeeping, personal care, and other assistance with day-to-day activities for the client, as well as, providing much needed respite for the family caregivers.

Home Instead Senior Care is the preferred provider for PSW support in The Dorothy Ley's residential care program and therefore has CAREGivers trained in Hospice Care both through our own training program and training with Dorothy Ley.

Two years ago we entered into a partnership with Home Instead Senior Care where we provided palliative care training to their staff and they provide relief coverage for us. Not only has this been a partnership that has benefited both organizations, but we have been impressed with the way Home Instead goes the extra mile to support our needs. Their staff have provided excellent, compassionate care and are a wonderful addition to our care team.
