Janet Hassell, Jack Voykin and their team at Home Instead Senior Care in Vancouver and surrounding areas possess a heartfelt desire to help seniors live safely and independently in their homes. Our commitment to provide the best homecare service is why we are so often selected to tailor a caring program to the unique needs of each of our clients. We are available to help you through what can be a difficult decision-making process in selecting a caregiver for your loved one. We will listen to your needs, make recommendations on how to get started, and carefully match our CAREGivers to the unique personality of each senior.

Janet Hassell

Janet Hassell, Owner and President

Janet brings a diverse background to the Home Instead Senior Care organization. With over 30 years experience in managing people, customer service, sales and marketing, it has been helpful with structuring, organizing, implementation of policies, and the overall development and growth of the company. Janet has a hands-on approach and is dedicated to providing the best care possible for our seniors in the Vancouver areas.

She also is committed to making Home Instead Senior Care the best place to work. She has a strong relationship with her staff and together with their caring and compassionate “can do attitude”; they are becoming the provider of choice in the Vancouver region. Her function is to ensure that the best possible care is given to each client, and is dedicated to improving their lives. She listens intently to their individual needs, understanding their concerns and effectively communicates these needs to each department.

Janet loves going out to meet our clients and educating them on our services as well as offering solutions for their needs. In her free time she loves spending time with her grandson, entertaining friends, cooking, reading and planning the hopeful next vacation. Janet has two fabulous adult daughters, two patient sons in law and soon to have 2 grandchildren.

Jack Voykin

Jack Voykin, Co-Owner and Community Service Representative

Jack is responsible for identifying and cultivating new opportunities for the Vancouver and surrounding areas. Most of his week is spent meeting with Social Workers and Case Managers on how they can work together to help seniors live more independently in their own homes.

Jack has more than 20 years experience in the consumer and corporate financial services industry, and uses his experience to deliver presentations to organizations on the services of Home Instead Senior Care. Through doing this, he is able to educate the community about the care options available to seniors today. Our focus at Home Instead Senior Care is to change the face of aging, Jack says. “I believe wholeheartedly in the services our company provides, and am proud of how our caring and dedicated CAREGivers make a difference in the lives of seniors and their family members.”

Jack’s comedy, extroversion and warmth make him popular among clients, families and CAREGivers alike. When not working, Jack spends as much time as he can with his two fantastic boys who are attending college and university.

Marina Taylor

Marina Taylor, Human Resource Manager and Office Manager

Marina joined our team in 2010 and prior to joining Home Instead Senior Care, she worked in the corporate world in areas including communication, employment recognition and engagement strategies. She is looking forward to helping to make a difference in the lives of seniors as a member of our team.

Marina is our recruitment and retention coordinator, and her primary focus is to seek out talented CAREGivers who are committed to bettering the lives of seniors. Marina is responsible for pre-screening, interviewing, orientating, and training, as well as regular follow-ups with CAREGivers. Additionally, she presents at job fairs, oversees communication projects, and promotes team building.

Her optimism and compassion shine through in all that she does. She has played many roles in the development of the company by assisting with the creation of individual departments, policies and procedures, and marketing support. With a background in employee relations she is a valued employee who is dedicated to the overall operation of the company. Marina helps make our office work together seamlessly, with great pride and compassion. She provides the initial and on-going education for all our CAREGivers to provide exceptional care for our clients.

In her spare time she enjoys art, the theatre, music and fitness. Marina and her husband John have 2 teenage children, one in university, and one completing high school, with the hopes of getting into the National Circus School.

Heidi

Heidi, North Shore Client Care Coordinator

As our Client Care Coordinator for the North Shore, Heidi works closely with clients, families and health care professionals. She meets with new clients and their families in order to identify how Home Instead can provide the best care to meet their unique needs. Heidi also ensures quality of care by creating and maintaining relationships with clients, families and CAREGivers as well as following up on any feedback given.

Her enthusiasm and openness makes those around her feel welcome and at ease. Heidi joined our office in 2011 as Client Care Coordinator, and it did not take long for all of us to notice that Heidi had the skills needed to work with our clients and their families. Heidi truly understands the importance of quality care, and is committed to providing “Superior Client Service”. She ensures the best quality of care and compatibility possible between client and caregiver by spending time getting to know each client’s individual needs, circumstances, personality, and preferences. She truly makes a difference in the lives of our clients and her passion to help others is sincere.

Heidi has two “children” Brody and Olive (dogs) that she loves and adores, and in her spare time loves to walk.

Andrea

Andrea

. Andrea’s focus is helping to identify and cultivate new opportunities for our Vancouver office. She follows-up with clients and families for feedback, assists in sales/marketing projects and is responsible for communications, such as newsletters as well as drafting letters with updates for clients and families. She is always open to offer suggestions that would help with the overall operations of the company, and uses her background in scheduling to assist with staff coordination, as well as pre-screening and reference checks for applicants. Her friendliness and kind approach are encouraging, and is a trusted and well liked member of the Home Instead Senior Care team.

She runs many projects such as trade shows, job fairs, PEAQ, (Pursuing Excellence by Advancing Quality) CAREGiver training and socials. She is attending the University of Vancouver with hopes to complete her degree as an Occupational Therapist within 4 years.

Emilia

Emelia, Staff Coordinator

As the staff coordinator, Emilia ensures all clients are booked for service at the appropriate times. She coordinates schedules according to the convenience of the client and availability of CAREGivers. Emilia is meticulous in selecting CAREGivers that will be appropriately matched to the clients’ needs. Her upbeat demeanour and positive attitude are contagious.

Emilia is a new member of our team, and has worked hard to build a relationship with our clients to ensure their needs are being met. Her responsiveness and attention to detail has made her an essential member of the Home Instead Senior Care team. Emilia is an extremely kind, caring and dedicated individual.

She enjoys spending her free time with as many sporting events as possible and has a huge network of friends. Her amazing organizational skills allow her to coordinate our CAREGiver and client schedules with ease and efficiency.

Clare Gray

Clare Gray, Executive Assistant, Controller

As Executive Assistant, Clare administers all accounting functions, including billing, payroll as well as accounts payable and receivable. She takes care to guarantee service hours are entered accurately before distributing invoices and pay cheques.

Clare’s organization, attention to detail and consistent cheerfulness make her a pleasure to work with. She understands that unique customer service is required when it comes to providing quality care to our seniors regardless if that conversation involves collecting on an invoice or dealing with a supplier.

Clare joined our team in 2011. She has a true passion for her work and strives for perfection every day. She is an organizing wizard, and has streamlined the accounting office to run efficiently. Her background in administration and operations with various large companies has made her such an asset to our team. In her spare time she loves to cook, bake and be Andy’s soul mate and a great friend to so many.

Andy Gray

Andy Gray, Technology Specialist

Andy provides technical support services to our office staff as well as overall web-based management. He attends to technological issues, is thorough in ensuring computers, network and applications are functioning efficiently and uses his knowledge to improve on current systems. Andy is always reliable and will spring into action on very short-notice if a problem arises. His diligence and work ethic are appreciated by all those around him.

Outside of core functions for the franchise he “works” on the better, best way to streamline operations or get more coverage on our website. Andy brings to our organization over 25-years worth of experience within the IT field, working in the UK for EDS and the Ministry of Defence. He specializes in web site design, database administration and iPhone/iPad application development.

Andy has an infectious sense of humour and although being Scottish, and not easily understood, is loved (especially by our Executive Assistant) and respected by all of the Home Instead Senior Care team. In his free time he can still be found in-front of his PC, or listening to music.
