Home Instead Senior Care
Vancouver and North Shore, BC

We were determined to give back to [our mother] in the same way we were cared for. That has been made possible by the caring and competent care we all receive from Home Instead CAREGivers. They are well informed about Alzheimer's Disease, and...let her do what she can for herself with dignity, but are there to silently step in and help when she needs a little direction.

Home Instead of Vancouver Has Deep Community Roots

In 2006, Janet Hassell and Jack Voykin purchased a local company on the North Shore called Royal Duchess Elder Care, which primarily served seniors in North Vancouver and West Vancouver. The company had been in business for over 15 years at the time of our involvement. The owner was the late Stephanie Griffiths and after so many years she has never been forgotten, and even today, people still talk about the love she showed towards her Clients and CAREGivers alike. We are blessed to still have some of these clients and CAREGivers as part of our internal team.

In 2008 we joined the Home Instead Senior Care Network after meeting the founders of Home Instead Senior Care at an awards event in the US. They had been awarded Franchisor of the year. We had many meetings after that, and met with their management team to see if this would be a good fit for our company. If we were going to make a difference for the seniors in our area why not connect with others that had a wealth of knowledge in the business.

In 3 years we have been blessed to triple our business. We are grateful and privileged for the opportunity to serve as many seniors over the years as we have and be part of Home Instead Senior Care. Our office has branched out to other municipalities including Vancouver, Richmond and Burnaby. The passion to help our senior population is what motivates our entire staff and the gratification that is felt by everyone to provide superior care.

Home Instead Senior Care Began from Personal Experience

Paul and Lori Hogan founded Home Instead, Inc. and began serving seniors in Omaha, Nebraska, as Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. It was Paul Hogan's own family experience caring for his grandmother that made him realize the need for non-medical home care and elder companionship services to help seniors live independently at home.

Fulfilling a Growing Need as Our Population Ages

In June 1995, the company began franchising. By 1998, Home Instead Senior Care had grown to 99 offices and was recognized by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the 100 fastest growing franchise companies in the United States. In 2000, Home Instead Senior Care began international development with the opening of an international partner relationship in Osaka, Japan with Duskin Corporation.

Offering In-Home Care Worldwide

Today, the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network is the world's trusted source of companionship, Alzheimer's and home care for seniors, with more than 950 franchises in the United States, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Taiwan, Switzerland, Germany, South Korea, Finland, Austria, Italy, Puerto Rico and the Netherlands. Philanthropic Endeavors

In 2003, the Hogans established The Home Instead Senior Care Foundation as a means to further enhance the lives of older adults.
