Janise Smith is owner and Director of the Scarborough office of Home Instead Senior Care.  Home Instead Senior Care provides a full range of compassionate homecare services to enable seniors to remain safe and independent at home. 

 

Their services give the senior's family member a peace of mind knowing their loved one is cared for when they are apart due to distance, work or other family commitments.  

 

In addition to providing compassionate homecare services and being a Certified Senior Advisor, Janise educates seniors and their loved ones on topics and issues that impact their lives.  Each presentation is educational, inclusive, inspirational, interactive, and never boring.  Presentation topics are geared towards the well being of  the baby boomers and their senior loved ones. 

 

Janise is a people person, compassionate about people's well being.  She is a board member of the Palliative Care Cancer Committee at Centenary Hospital and the treasurer for a public school student council. Her other activities include teaching aqua fit classes to people age 25 to 80, volunteering as a Girl Guide Leader in a Sparks Unit, and participating with the Cedarbluffs Trefoil Guild.

 

Janise has been a guest on Breakfast TV and CTV on issues related to boomers and their senior loved ones. Some of the topics covered include, how to Keep Seniors Safe at Home, Beauty Tips for seniors and performing a Seniors Makeover live on TV.

Janise is available to speak to community groups, family caregivers and seniors on a range of topics including.


 Use it or lose it

Mind games keep many aging minds young and vital.  This presentation covers what seniors can do to keep mentally fit.  In addition to traditional games like bingo, many seniors are gravitating to video-games technology and group activities such as scrabble and bridge tournaments.   According to the recent survey, it all helps.

 

Home Safety: A SENIOR???S Home May be Hazardous to their health

The majority of seniors polled in recent industry surveys want to stay at home.  However, there are many home hazards seniors'  families do not consider.  This presentation provides information and simple, economical tips on how to keep seniors safe in their homes.

Educating seniors and their families on three areas of intergenerational living - the emotional/social element of the change, ensuring the safety and comfort of family members of varying ages and finances.
