There are many ways Kelowna Home Instead Senior Care Owners and CAREGivers become involved in their Community. Community involvement goes hand in hand with Senior Care and “to us it’s personal”
Be a Santa to a Senior
“Be a Santa to a Senior®”, is a program originated by Home Instead Senior Care Inc® In the Kelowna area, owners of the Home Instead Senior Care® independent franchise office, Don and Anita Henke embraced this unique program in 2004 and without fail, grows each Holiday Season. This annual event involves Kelowna Home Instead Senor Care partnering with Kelowna and West Kelowna, London Drugs, Kelowna Meals on Wheels, Kelowna Seniors Outreach, CAREGivers, Community Volunteers and Missionwood Retirement Resort to provide gifts to seniors who in all likelihood will not receive a holiday gift this season.
How it Works in Four Simple Steps!
• Local agencies and facilities provide the names of seniors who may not receive a gift during the holiday season.
• London Drugs Kelowna and West Kelowna display a Christmas Tree with ornaments that have the names of seniors and some gift suggestions.
• Caring Community members remove an ornament and purchase a gift for the senior mentioned on the ornament and return the gift to London Drugs.
• Home Instead Senior Care, with the help from volunteers among their staff and CAREGivers, will wrap all the gifts, which will be returned to the facility or organization that provided the particular names for distribution to the seniors.
