Welcome Home.

Moving Can Be Tough on Seniors.

Saying good-bye to old friends and favorite places - it isn't easy.  That's why it's good to have a friend to help your elderly loved one with the transition that is fast approaching.  When it is time to move, your loved one's dignity and independence are important and can be maintained, even when you're going in a dozen different directions planning and checking-off your to-do list.

Here are a few ways we can help:

  • Helping mom or dad pack-up their belongings, giving them the opportunity to reminisce and even unload some of their unwanted items.  This is especially important if they'll be transitioning to a smaller living arrangement, or even to some form of assisted or independent living facility. This way it's our CAREGivers giving them the advice, and not their overbearing children.
  • If mom or dad have a car, we can drive them in their vehicle to their new home - a great way to help them keep the sense of maintaining their independence.
  • If mom or dad are flying into their new city, one of our CAREGivers can meet them at the airport, drive them to their new home, and even help get them settled or help them unload a few things as they get their new living arrangements set-up.
  • While the family is adjusting to new jobs, new schools, and new neighborhoods, your mom or dad will want to get acquainted to the senior community that awaits them.  Our CAREGivers are frequent visitors to local senior centers, libraries, community centers, shopping centers, and local restaurants.  Why not have one of our CAREGivers take mom or dad out on the town for a few hours a week, getting them involved in activities that can introduce them to new friends and events.

We Can Accommodate Seniors with Special Needs

Some seniors need a little more care with their transitional needs. Home Instead Senior Care provides non-medical personal care and companionship, meaning we can address several issues ranging from Alzheimer's and dementia care, to managing incontinence care.  Whatever your loved one is facing, we can ease the tensions of relocating for you by providing your mom or dad with flawless care so that you can stay focused on the move while knowing your loved one is in good hands.

For seniors who may be a fall or wandering risk, we can even provide 24-hour in-home care to help your loved one adjust to their new surroundings which may include several flights of stairs, new terrain, and other potentially hazardous circumstances.

Our CAREGivers are our employees, are bonded and insured, and must complete a lengthy, in-depth training program before we allow them to work with clients that have special needs or require certain levels of managed personal care.

We Offer a Continuum of Care Across the United States

Each Home Instead Senior Care franchise is independently owned and operated.  With more than 700 franchises within the United States, we can easily begin services in one city and continue them in another with ease.  For example, if you're moving to the Greater Metro Detroit area from Denver, our Home Instead franchises in the Denver area would begin services, and our CAREGivers here in Michigan would continue the care plan once your mom or dad arrives in-state.

So, welcome home!  We've been selected by several relocation companies as their choice for senior care services because of our reputation and experience.  Home Instead Senior Care is the world's trusted source of in-home non-medical companionship and personal care for seniors.  We're ready to help when you need us.
