Tina Rowley, R.N., C.S.A.
Franchise Owner

Owner of Home Instead Senior Care, Birmingham, Michigan since 1999, Tina Rowley is a registered nurse.  Prior to her present work, Tina developed a role as a project manager for nursing at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland.  Her work revolved around the elder population and the need for better understanding, by all professionals, of the elder person's unique needs and care.  She put into place specialized protocols to improve the care of the hospitalized elderly.  This information has proven invaluable in her present work as the owner of a home care company that provides assistance to seniors.  The assistance in activities of daily living and companionship, help seniors remain in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their home.

"I have a passion for assisting seniors and their family caregivers in having an improved quality of life.  Even though I am not as much hands on as in the first few years of business, I still keep close touch with who our clients are, how they are doing, and the quality of our staff.  It is important to me for Home Instead Senior Care to provide physical, mental, and spiritual support."

Tina knows Home Instead Senior Care is a great company because, "We care and we manage care to bring the safest, most comfortable, companionable care, quality and comfort into the lives of seniors who require assistance."

Aimee Cunningham
Operations Assistant

I am a Christian, wife and Mother. I am a University of Michigan Alumnus. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology and Political Science. I began working with seniors as an Administrative Assistant for the Young Women's Christian Association, where I trained seniors in the office to help them integrate back into the work force. I am also a volunteer Tennis instructor for a wonderful person who is also a senior. I hope to increase my class for seniors as my availability opens up, and the need for senior activities increases.

I am the Operations Assistant for Home Instead, where I have the opportunity to personally meet and greet all of our Caregiving Staff. I also have the privilege of meeting most of our clients over the phone. I enjoy working for Home Instead because it gives me the chance to give back to the people who have paved the way for our society.

Anne Monaghan
Leadership Development Manager

Anne first started working with Home Instead in Birmingham in April of 2006 as the Staff Coordinator.  A caregiver herself, Anne took a leave of absence to care for her mother who suffered with severe Alzheimer's Disease.  After her mom passed away, she returned to Home Instead in March of 2008 to serve in a new role as the office's Leadership Development Manager.

"It's very rewarding to give the tools of education to our CAREGivers so that they can provide a high level of care and companionship for our clients in a professional way."

Maria Polakowski
Staffing Coordinator

Susan Walker, RN CHPN
Registered Nurse

Working with people. That was my dream as a young person. It started at an early age volunteering at a local hospital working as a candy striper. Now with over 30 years experience, let me share my story.

My nursing career started at Harper Hospital. Initially I worked with cancer patients and moved to Medical ICU. Those 18 years became a great foundation, building assessment skills while working with the critically ill.

The next 12 years were spent working for hospice. There I visited the frail, terminally ill patients in their homes, the hospitals and at nursing homes. What a joy to hear their stories, hold their hand. Much can be learned from the dying. Life is precious, cherish each moment.

I am passionate about my work and excited to be with HISC. My vision is to impart knowledge and guide our seniors and caregivers. It's all about being safe and being home instead.

To relax I spend time gardening, quilting, cooking, reading, and especially health and anti-aging literature. I also enjoy spending time with my husband and 3 children.

Nan Wilberding
Community Service Representative

I began working for Home Instead Senior Care in 2003 . This truly was the perfect job... allowing me to market a service I am absolutely passionate about, and as a part time employee I still had enough time and energy to be the mother of my six children. As a Community Service Representative, I have the best possible job. I am able to interact with Seniors in our community helping them find solutions for their care needs. At the same time, I meet with professionals from hospitals, rehab facilities, doctor's offices, senior centers and more to inform and educate them about Home Instead Senior Care. It is a truly inspiring experience to work with other professionals to find the best services and quality care needed to help a senior stay safe and comfortable in their own home.

Life has blessed me with a wonderful family. I have been married for 22 years and have 6 teenagers. Although kids and their activities consume the majority of my time, I enjoy sports, gardening, reading, volunteering at school and volunteering as a tutor through the Oakland Literacy Council. Prior to Home Instead Senior Care, I worked with large corporations such as American Hospital Supply and Baxter Travenol. I obtained my Bachelor In Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Claudia Mills
Community Service Representative

There are many things that make home special, but it's the comfort and confidence you enjoy in living there that's important to Home Instead Senior Care. As the area Community Liaison and Business Development representative for the Birmingham Home Instead Senior Care franchise, Claudia Mills is responsible for development of relationships with area businesses whose clientele are senior focused or working with the adult children of seniors. Home Instead Senior Care allows family members the ability to be the son or daughter again and the senior to continue to live in their own home.

Claudia is a graduate of Sales Masters University. She has created an awareness of the impact Home Instead Senior Care can have in helping family caregivers serve the needs of their families. Area community talks that highlight tools and solutions include the 50/50 Rule: How Families Can Share the Responsibility; The 40/70 Rule: How to Communicate with an Aging Adult; and community presentations in conjunction with area police departments: Is It Time for Mom to Give Up the Car Keys.

As a family caregiver herself for her 87-year-old mother, Claudia can relate to the challenges of balancing work, home and family, and the important need to know the resources and options available, and how to prepare for the future.
