Why should I use Home Instead Senior Care rather than someone out of the newspaper?
There are several reasons why Home Instead Senior Care should be your choice for companionship and home care for older adults. All CAREGivers are screened, trained, supervised, bonded and insured, and you don't need to worry about the risks and work of hiring your own employee. Plus, the Home Instead SeniorCare network's largest staff of quality employees ensures that the most compatible and reliable CAREGiver will be there for your family member or friend - even if your CAREGver gets sick or takes a vacation
How are CAREGivers selected?
We begin by interviewing potential CAREGivers within our service area who have expressed a passion to help seniors live independently. We hire CAREGivers who live in the local community because they are familiar with the community. Many CAREGivers assist our clients with their shopping, doctor visits or outings. Driving is a requirement of employment; safe driving records are imperative. All CAREGivers must have their own vehicles to work. All potential candidates must complete a thorough screening process by providing personal and professional references as well as successfully pass a criminal background check.
How do you train your CAREGivers?
Upon hire, CAREGivers complete orientation and safety training. As they continue their careers with Home Instead Senior Care they receive training on Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of dementia, as well as CPR, First Aid, and Personal Care training. Our CAREGivers receive ongoing education and support through one on one and group meetings.
What happens if my CAREGiver gets sick?
Home Instead Senior Care franchises employ a CAREGiver team approach. We do our best to keep the number of CAREGivers working in the home to a minimum, realizing that continuity of care is important. However, sometimes it's best to have more than one CAREGiver familiar with your loved one's routine, this facilitates a smooth transition for the client whenever a CAREGiver needs to request off work. In an emergency your loved one will not be left alone; a replacement CAREGiver will be sent from our pool of over 250 trained employees.
Does health insurance cover your services?
Standard health insurance does not cover the costs of private duty home care. Our services are primarily self pay. Our services may also be covered by Long Term Care Insurance, Veterans Benefits or through the Pennsylvania Department of Aging sponsored program called Waiver for individuals on a limited, fixed income. A Home Instead staff member is available to assist you in this referral process.
Do you provide services to seniors living in facilities?
Yes, Home Instead Senior Care provides services to older adults living in independent, assisted living or nursing home facilities. In the family's absence, a CAREGiver may provide much needed additional support to remain living independently or to assist through an illness or difficult time.
Do I pay the CAREGiver?
No. Your CAREGiver is employed by our individually owned and operated franchise office. All billing, payroll, administrative and employment responsibilities, taxes and insurance coverage are handled by our office.
What are your minimum hours of service?
Our minimum hours of service are 3 hours per visit. We can provide service short-term or long-term. There is no contract for a specified amount of time. You may increase or decrease hours at any time; but we do ask for a one week notie for a non-emergency termination of services.
