The Fifth Annual Be A Santa To A Senior was our most successful effort to date. Over 300 seniors in the South Hills and Washington County had their lives touched by our "Santa" gifts. These are the neediest of our seniors living in the community. Most have little to begin with, but during the holidays they are often lonely and forgotten. Thank you notes from the seniors are very touching and tell us just how much your generosity means to them.
The program was successful due to the cooperation of many. Home Instead Senior Care had 3 gift tag trees located at Century III Mall, Parkway Center Mall and Washington Crown Center. An Adult Day Care program and Church Youth group hand decorated white shopping bags as gift bags. Wrapping parties were held at a church youth group event and at a Mon Valley Girl Scout troop meeting. An additional wrapping party was held at the South Hills office prior to the delivery of the gifts. Home Instead Senior Care volunteers sorted, wrapped, tagged and bagged all the gifts. Finally, Betty and Phyllis and our intern Samantha delivered the gift bags. In some buildings they were greeted with applause and cheers.
