Home Instead Senior Care was a National Team Partner for the 2008 Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. The South Hills and Washington offices participated in two walks this year.
The Washington County Memory Walk was held on September 27th at Peterswood Park in Venetia. Home Instead Senior Care was represented by a team of walkers, a banner and a table to provide information about our CAREGiver services. It was a beautiful day as Washington County Commissioner Bracken Burns led off the walk, finished first and personally thanked every walker at the finish line. Betty Karleski and Phyllis Mrosco, Home Instead Senior Care Community Service Representatives, serve on the Memory Walk Committee for Washington County. Washington County Memory Walk raised more than $35,000.00 for the Alzheimer's Association with a donation of $413.05 from Washington Home Instead Senior Care employees and friends. These funds will help to provide vital services to the families struggling with dementia.
The Allegheny County Memory Walk 2008 took place on October 4th at the Pittsburgh Zoo raising over $230,000.00 with a donation of $1,323.00 from the South Hills Home Instead Senior Care employees and friends. The eight Home Instead Senior Care offices that serve Southwestern PA had great team participation at this year's Walk (see photo). Donning our navy blue Home Instead Senior Care shirts, we were a stand out team in a very large crowd of over 2,000 walkers. Betty Karleski, Home Instead Senior Care Community Service Representative, serves on the Memory Walk Committee for Allegheny County and is a member of the Greater Pittsburgh Alzheimer's Association Regional Council. We were honored by the number of people who stopped by our table at the Walk to thank us for the wonderful care our CAREGivers provide their loved ones who suffer from Alzheimer's disease.
A very special "Thank You" to all Home Instead Senior Care employees who walked and donated funds.
