2011 CAREGIVER OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION! Pictured from left are Nancy Fendrich, Ida Conyers and Harry Fendrich. Nancy and Harry Fendrich, owners of Home Instead Senior Care of Charleston, recently awarded Ida Conyers as CAREGiver of the Year. This recognition is given to a CAREGiver who has demonstrated extraordinary compassion and devoted service to seniors. Clients and office staff alike appreciate and value Ida's kindness, humor and intelligence plus her selfless dedication to Home Instead clients.

 

Our Quarterly CAREGiver training was held in August. Pictured are CAREGivers Judy, Cathy, Karen and Sally with Harry Fendrich, Co-Owner of Home Instead Senior Care of Charleston. CAREGivers met in small groups to discuss various topics of interest such as assisting clients with Alzheimer's disease and clients requiring personal care. CAREGivers also shared why they have chosen to become a caregiver, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance.

Harry Fendrich works with a group of CAREGivers during the second night of training in August. CAREGivers enjoyed the opportunity to share best practices of working with clients who need assistance with personal care.

  

Each year we recognize CAREGiver's for their outstanding service. At our February 2011 meeting, CAREGivers who achieved Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze levels of service were recognized. Pictured from left are Ida, Elaine and Christy.

The 2011 Aging in Place event was held on Tuesday, October 11th at Charles Towne Landing. Over 250 seniors and their adult children attended this free community event.

Home Instead Senior Care of Charleston nominated John Ledford (center picture) for the Aging in Place Week "Valuable Volunteer" Award .   Mr.  Ledford's wife Betsy developed Alzheimer’s disease and John was her family caregiver for the 11 years until her passing in 2005. Since then he has continued to serve the Alzheimer’s community in Charleston as a facilitator of several Alzheimer’s Support Groups. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Alzheimer’s Association of South Carolina. Pictured from left are the Rev. Paul Gilbert, John Ledford and Harry Fendrich. The Rev. Paul Gilbert is an advisor to Home Instead Senior Care, and is co-host with Harry Fendrich of our community radio program "Time for Seniors and Their Families", broadcast every Sunday morning at 8.30am, FM94.3 

Harry Fendrich was honored at the October SC Aging in Place Week event for his dedicated service as Treasurer and executive committee member for the past four years. Janet Schumacher, Chairwoman of the SCAIP Coalition is pictured with Harry. Congratulations Harry!
