Founded in 1974, Houston Area Parkinson Society  is one of the oldest independent, local Parkinson's disease support groups in the United States. HAPS provides comprehensive services to the eight-county Houston Metropolitan Area, with a combined estimated population of more than 5.5 million people.


HAPS offers numerous programs and services to the Parkinson's  community.  Over 30 weekly exercise, water and speech therapy groups  in addition to tai chi, tango and newly formed dance and singing classes are made available by HAPS free of charge

Fort Bend Seniors Meals on Wheels and More

Through the years, Fort Bend Seniors has evolved and now provides Meals on Wheels services to over 1,000 seniors daily from six site locations throughout Fort Bend County and a site in Waller County.  Fort Bend Seniors is the only organization that provides Meals on Wheels to all persons 60 years of age and over regardless of income, even though 85% of FBS’ clients live at or below the poverty level.

Today, FBS provides comprehensive services and programs including Meals on Wheels, congregate meals, transportation, case management, health screenings, information and referral services, recreation and more. Each of these programs and services enable area seniors to remain in their homes and continue to be an integral part of the community for as long as possible. Call  (281) 633 7049.

Harris County Area Agency on Aging


The Harris County Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is part of a nationwide network coordinating supportive services for the elderly as mandated by the Older Americans Act of 1965 and its subsequent amendments; The AAA plans and contracts for services for senior citizens throughout Harris County. With the Area Agency on Aging acting as an advocate, awareness of the needs of the elderly increases through services that assist the elderly and their families with options that promote independence, well-being and dignity.The AAA's programs are tailored to meet the social, nutritional, educational and logistical needs of all Harris County residents age 60 and above. Nutrition services include the home-delivered meal program for the homebound elderly and the congregate meal program at 48 senior centers in Harris County. Other services include respite care and homemaker services, care-giver training and other supportive services.
