Home Instead Senior Care of the Northern Shenandoah Valley is licensed by the Virginia
Department of Health to provide personal care to our clients. Our ability
to provide personal care allows us to offer care over a longer period of time,
making it possible for our clients to remain at home and avoid nursing facility
placement for as long as possible.
Under our personal care program, we offer
incontinence care to help seniors who have trouble with bladder or bowel
control. We are prepared to change ostomy pouches ("colostomy
bags") for clients who have colostomy, ileostomy, or ureterostomy needs.
Our services extend to all aspects of personal
hygiene, including hands-on assistance with bathing, grooming, shaving,
dressing, and toileting.
We are able to assist clients who need help with
ambulation and mobility transfers, including use of a gait belt or Hoyer lift.
We help clients who need assistance eating food and
remembering to take medications on time. We are also prepared to
compassionately serve clients with cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's
disease or other types of dementia.
Our Registered Nurse manages and directs our
personal care program. As a lifetime community nurse, she uses her broad
nursing experience to routinely assess clients, train our CAREGivers, and
ensure constant quality care.
All CAREGivers who deliver personal care service at
Home Instead Senior Care of the Northern Shenandoah Valley
are either Virginia Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) or Personal Care Aides
(PCAs) who completed our in-house training program to acquire the skills
required to provide this level of care. Moreover, on an ongoing basis,
all of our CNAs and PCAs complete regular in-service training as a method of continuously
enhancing their skills.
At Home Instead Senior Care of the Northern Shenandoah Valley, we are pleased to offer a strong personal care program because we know this level of care is absolutely critical for many seniors who want to remain at home.
