Hospice - Dignity & Comfort During Final Days
When the focus of care is comfort and no longer cure, or when the prognosis is a matter of months and not years, hospice may become involved in the client's Service Care Plan.
Hospice can enhance the quality of life through palliative and specialized supportive care designed to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of the clients and their families.
Hospice care will provide an interdisciplinary team: physician, nurse, social worker, spiritual counselor, bereavement counselor, therapists and others to ensure the client spends their final days with dignity and comfort.
Local hospice organizations provide services throughout our area.
While Home Instead Senior Care itself is not a hospice organization, our CAREGivers can supplement the care provided by your hospice or palliative care team by providing emotional support, companionship, housekeeping, personal care and other assistance with day-to-day activities for the client, as well as providing much-needed respite for the family caregivers. Our CAREGivers receive special education on the hospice philosophy and providing this specialized type of care.
Hospice care can be provided in the home or in an assisted living community, extended care facility, hospital or hospice facility.
