After attending one year of law school while at Ole Miss, he later completed his post-graduate studies with dual Masters degrees in Finance and Accounting at Mercer University in Atlanta in 1996. Joe Ward, CSA – Owner & CEO hiscathens@earthlink.netJoe graduated from the University of Georgia in 1985 earning a B.B.A. degree in Management. While serving as the Athens office’s administrator, he earned a Certified Senior Advisor™ designation in 2004 and has been a member in good standing of the Society of Certified Senior Advisors™ since that timeframe.
Born in San Antonio, TX and raised in the Bogart, GA area since the age of 4, he moved to Atlanta in 1988 after attending UGA. Joe was 14 years old when his mother became the primary caregiver for his grandmother, Lillian Christopher, who suffered and ultimately died from Alzheimer’s disease. As a young teen, he watched the debilitating effects of the disease ravage his grandmother’s mind and ultimately her once-strong body, which left a lasting effect on him. By living next door to his grandparents, he learned early-on how to be compassionate and caring while helping his mother to monitor and take care of her at a time when there was no homecare available in rural Oconee County. Alicia Shelton – Office Manager alicia@homeinstead.comAlicia is passionate about providing quality care to our seniors. From her grandmother being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and watching the progression of it, it became apparent to Alicia that Home Instead Senior Care was a solution to a common problem and she wants to be a part of that solution.

She is proud to be a part of this team of professionals and looks forward to helping more clients and their families find solutions to their individual problems.
Alicia’s dedication to the seniors we serve stems from her family’s desire to maintain her grandmother’s and father’s independence as they both struggle with the perils of aging. Knowing the challenges her family overcomes with assuring the coordination of proper care, Alicia takes pride in ensuring our clients' shifts are filled with the right CAREGivers. Alicia knows how very important it is to have client-to-CAREGiver matches so she makes it a goal to find the perfect fit based upon each client’s individual needs. Her attention to detail and desire to attain client satisfaction makes her a valuable asset to the team.
Alicia is a problem solver—she specializes in providing everyday solutions to our clients and their family members. She knows how important each client is and how their needs vary, so she takes the time to meet with them and create a special plan of care that fits their unique needs.
