Scott M. Harrell-Franchise Owner Scott Harrell, owner of Home Instead Senior Care of Tallahassee, has been with Home Instead since 1998 when he worked as a CAREGiver while in college. "I remember my first client like it was yesterday. We connected immediately because of his love for baseball and I had played the game for all of my 20 years", he says.
Six years later he had worked his way through Recruitment & Retention Coordinator and Staff Coordinator until by 2004 he was running the office. Scott is currently serving on several community non-profit boards and auxiliary boards in the Tallahassee area. Alzheimer’s Project, Tallahassee Senior Citizens Foundation, Big Bend Hospice Tree of Remembrance Committee, Elder Care Services RSVP Program Committee.
"Our family chose Home Instead because of the relationship we had formed with Paul Hogan when he sold my father a Merry Maids franchise back in 1994. We as a family felt that with Paul's passion, enthusiasm and research in regards to senior care it was a huge win-win for us all", says Scott. The fact that this office is local and family-owned makes such a difference. Scott frequently visits with clients, their family members and referral sources.
Home Instead Senior Care Tallahassee uses a "step process" that must be completed before an applicant can become a CAREGiver. They also have on staff a full-time RN with more than 25 years of experience in education and direct patient care. "She is able to provide expertise to our CareGivers regarding emergencies that may come up", says Scott.
While this business and his non-profit commitments, along with his family keep Scott hopping, he says, "What keeps me motivated is that I really love helping people." Bonnie Strade, R.N.
