Licensing and Certification
While there is currently no licensing agency for non-medical home care and companionship in the State of Ohio, we take the privilege of providing quality care for your loved one very seriously.
Though NOT REQUIRED by federal, state or local agencies, all of our CAREGivers are carefully screened with extensive references checks, criminal and driving background checks, and a professionally administered 10-panel pre-employment drug test.
Furthermore, after joining the Home Instead Senior Care family, each CAREGiver, regardless of their prior experience, must successfully complete through documented testing, a company orientation and a safety and caregiving program. Additional monthly training sessions on topics relevant to senior care are also required.
Our specialized, on-going CAREGiver education programs include:
- Disease related topics such as Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, Parkinson's, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, kidney disease, osteoporosis, etc.
- Personal care topics including grooming, dressing, bathing, and toileting
- Incontinence care
- Communication tips
- Activities for seniors
- Safety in the home
- Hospice, end-of-life and bereavement issues
- Depression
- And, much more...
