Pam and Ed Myers are the owners of the Home Instead Senior Care office serving Summit, Medina and northern Wayne counties. Pam and Doris Zappone, Ed's mother, opened the office in 1997.
Pam Myers - Co-Owner
Pam started P & D Home Services Inc. (dba Home Instead Senior Care #181) in 1997, with her mother-in-law, Doris Zappone. Pam's husband, Ed, joined the company, when his mother retired.
Pam directs and oversees the activities of the office staff, as well as interacting with our clients, their family members and our CAREGivers.
To Us, It's Personal.
Pam has a special empathy for family Caregivers. Having provided care for her own mother along with her other siblings, Pam clearly understood the demands, stresses and joys of family caregiving before opening the local Home Instead office.
However, she was reminded of the necessity and importance of these services, when her husband, Ed, suffered a massive stroke in 2007. Experiencing the frustrations, inadequacies and complications of the medical system firsthand, Pam understands how helpless and lost family caregivers can sometimes feel. The journey through Intensive care, "step-down" units, rehab facilities, nursing home, dialysis and especially maneuvering the insurance complications, is a walk that Pam herself has taken. She understands first-hand how crucial Home Instead services are to provide the care necessary for Ed to remain safely in the comfort of their own home.
Helping other families cope with their caregiving challenges is not just business goal, it is a personal mission! To Pam and her staff, it truly is personal.
Originally from Sutton, Massachusetts, Pam relocated to Ohio in 1968. She graduated from the College of Wooster, with the B.A. in Sociology, in 1972. Soon after graduating, Pam and Ed married, settling in Wadsworth. In 1980, they moved to a 100+ year-old home in Seville, where they raised their family and still reside.
Continuing education is one of Pam's top priorities. In addition obtaining her Masters in Business Administration and completing various other executive management programs at Case Western Reserve, Ashland University and the University of Akron, Pam is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and regularly attends area presentations on eldercare topics.
Prior to starting the local Home Instead Senior Care office, Pam worked for 15 years in various management positions for Bell & Howell's Micro Photo Division in Wooster; as Marketing Director for William Dorsky Associates, in Beachwood, an architectural firm specializing in continuing care retirement communities, assisted living and nursing homes; and as Director of Marketing & Customer Service for Harris InfoSource in Twinsburg.
