Our Inspiration
At the age of 91, Jed Florance needed more care than his wife, Betty, could provide. After much persuasion from their children, all but one of whom lived out of state, they sold their home in Clearwater, Florida, and moved into an assisted living facility. As a loving son, David Florance felt there should have been a way for his parents to have remained in their home of 24 years. He had researched many in-home care businesses, but was not impressed with any of them. He felt he had no choice but to convince his parents to move where they could have the care they needed. As Jed and Betty Florance aged they needed more care. Betty was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and after Jed passed away at the age of 95, David moved Betty into an Alzheimer’s care community in Greenacres, Florida. This move made it possible for her to have regular visits from David and his family. As the disease progressed, David became deeply involved not only in his own Home Instead Senior Care franchise but also in working with Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Community Care. Just as he was devoted to the care of his own parents, he is now devoted to caring for the parents’ of others so that they may safely remain in their own homes as long as they wish. For most of our seniors, home truly is where the heart is. Home Instead Senior Care provides the care Jed Florance needed but was unable to have, and he and Betty are the inspiration for why we strive daily to provide the best care possible for each and every client we are privileged to serve.

We believe that our CAREGivers’ role is to enhance their clients’ overall well-being, thus enabling them to enjoy a quality of life in their own homes that would not otherwise be possible.
