My husband suffered a major stroke in 2005. I realized that he would need a substantial amount of care if he was going to live at home after rehabilitation at Stanford Medical Center. I have been using the service of Home Instead Senior Care since my husband became ill in November 2001. I found Home Instead such a valuable resource that I continued to use the service, though on a more limited basis after his death. Thus, I have a history with Home Instead in two different circumstances over a period of six-plus years.
I can recommend this service without reservations. With a minor exception--which were promptly addressed--all my experiences with Home Instead have been positive. Home Instead and their CAREGivers are reliable, providing an excellent quality of care and support. The CAREGivers I have had arrive promptly and well prepared for the tasks I have for them. I cannot speak for all CAREGivers but the ones I have been fortunate enough to have been personally charming and cheerful as well.
An extraordinary invaluable asset during my lengthy time with Home Instead has been the stability of the relationship between me and the people who have been my CAREGivers. Once a compatible relationship has been established there is a remarkable consistency of assignment. With exceptions during the "change-over", vacations, etc., I have been assigned only three major CAREGivers. The first was with me through my husband's illness and afterwards until she retired. The second was with me until she resigned to take a job elsewhere. The third is still with me.
As stated previously, I am pleased to recommend this service without recommendation.

I did not know where to turn. My mother-in-law had fallen down more times than I was aware of and she didn't seem to be taking care of herself or eating properly. She needed someone that could come in and make sure she ate breakfast and lunch, took a shower and was safe.
