Home Instead Senior Care in San Mateo Awards $25,000 to Senior Focus Program
Company Gives Back to Those Who Make a Difference in the Lives of Seniors
March 14, 2008
Home Instead Senior Care serving South San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo and Foster City has donated $25,000 to the Senior Focus program at Mills Peninsula Hospital for making a difference in the lives of seniors. Martie Cruz, owner of the local Home Instead Senior Care office, awarded the Senior Focus Board of Directors with a check during its annual meeting in March.
Senior Focus is a unique adult day health program that offers expert physical, occupational and speech therapies to help older adults maintain their independence and avoid the need for a nursing home. Participants, who attend two to five days a week, also have access to a social worker who helps connect them with community resources.
"Access to medical professionals through Senior Focus results in earlier detection of problems and also helps family members get the support they need, including time to themselves," said Cruz. "We are so proud to work alongside Senior Focus in providing quality care for area seniors. We both contribute in unique ways to the health and well-being of older adults."
Home Instead Senior Care, the world's leading provider of non-medical, in-home services to seniors, provides services to seniors wherever they might call home: private or rental residences, assisted-living facilities and care centers. Its professional caregivers provide companionship services and help clients maintain their independence by assisting them with activities of daily living such as meal preparation, laundry, shopping and light housekeeping. There are more than 800 independently owned and operated franchises around the world.
Since August, 1996, the San Bruno office has served seniors in North and Central San Mateo County.
The donation was made possible, in part, through the Home Instead Senior Care Founders Award, given to Cruz by the corporate office for her outstanding business achievements. While the grant comes from Martie Cruz of Home Instead Senior Care, Cruz is donating the money on behalf of Peninsula Regent, San Mateo, in appreciation of the dedicated social workers, case workers and discharge planners at Mills Peninsula Hospital.
"We're grateful for our success and know that with Senior Focus we're in good company as we reach out to touch the lives of so many seniors," said Cruz. "It feels good to share the Founders award with those who are just as passionate about enriching seniors' lives."
